Homedics Sound Spa Portable Sound Machine
Small and lightweight, this sound machine is as portable as it is functional.
Basics
The Homedics Sound Spa Portable is small, lightweight sound motorcar. Near flight saucer like in appearance, this plastic model includes vi nature sounds, a 15, 30 and threescore infinitesimal timer and is both battery and adapter powered. The speaker is centered in the top middle of the auto. The adapter is included and the batteries, four AA, tin be easily inserted in the back console of the machine – no screwdriver necessary. Information technology comes with a limited one yr warranty.
The 6 sounds included with the Sound Spa are all, with the exception of white racket, nature based:
- Thunder – a standard thunderstorm
- Ocean – crashing waves on the embankment
- Rain – more consistent with a heavy downpour
- Summer Dark – a nighttime camping, complete with crickets
- Brook – more like a bath
- White Noise – the standard white, static-like noise
Instructions
Uncomplicated to use the Audio Spa, just like the infant version, is very intuitive. After plugging in the machine or inserting the batteries, use the volume dial to turn the machine on and off. Select the sound of your choosing, and if preferred, the amount of fourth dimension you desire the sound to be on by pressing the timer push button. The 15, thirty or lx minute light will signal your selection. For those who like to slumber with consistent sound throughout the dark, leave your selection and forgo using the timer.

My Feel
The Sound Spa is easy to navigate and small enough in size to be used most anywhere. I used the white racket choice, adjusted the book towards the lower half of the dial (later on trying it at a louder volume initially to merely fearfulness we may have blown out the speaker) and I slept well.
My instincts are to use this equally a travel audio machine, as I have two young children and I fear that the slightest tumble would have this in pieces on the floor. Given the price point and the weight of this machine, it did not come as a surprise. It would only take 1 wrestling lucifer between my boys to potentially put an stop to this somewhat fragile seeming option.
This machine could be platonic in a invitee room, for an older kid or in a more private environment for a higher pupil, though it may not hold up in a dormitory. Essentially with the Sound Spa you get the quality that you lot pay for, which is fine for perhaps temporary housing or a room that gets used every-so-frequently.
Pricing and Availability
The Homedics Sound Spa is available at most large box stores and retails for $19.99 at Target, Walmart, Amazon and Bed, Bathroom & Beyond.
Mutual Praise and Complaints
Though not as pop as some of the other machines reviewed, fans of the Sound Spa are dedicated in their enthusiasm.
"My mom has had bad indisposition for several years, more than noticeably in the past year as she recovered from knee joint surgery that left her in a lot of hurting even after her knee had "healed". She tried everything for sleep: melatonin, Ambien, a one/ii glass of vino, herbal remedies, diets, low/no carbohydrate, the list goes on and on. She already was eating good for you and exercising as much every bit could exist expected, only she could not sleep. I got her DVDs and CDs from the library and she hated them all. And then I thought of this on 1/13/13, and now she sleeps!!!!!!"
The biggest complaint I discovered were people whose machine died rather speedily or did not stand upwardly to usual wear and tear.
" I want to give this five stars because the portability and ability to control volume is great, but we have purchased 3 of these machines because the knob shorts out. Unfortunately our most contempo purchase has only lasted 7 months. I am and then mad we have wasted and so much money on these, so I will detect some other product. Hopefully they refund our coin since they are under a 1-year warranty."
Final Thoughts
I would use this for travel or perhaps on a long road trip for my children, but not in my day-to-day. Consider it a trade-off, if you want to spend less this is an option that may not last as long as the more expensive counterparts. To paraphrase one reviewer, I would rather invest more coin on a machine that will withstand my lifestyle (exist it children, dogs, impuissant owners) than purchase 4 of this model in a yr.
